Business Development Associate

The Business Development Associate is responsible for generating new business partner leads using outbound sales and marketing tactics, such as using the phone and email to reach decision makers, responding to inbound company inquiries, and using the web and social media tools to publish content that will generate interest in our products.  This is primarily an ‘inside sales’ position focused on lead generation. The position is based locally in Traverse City, MI and will be a full-time employee. 

Key Tasks and Duties

  • Use the telephone, email, networking, etc. to locate and create partnership opportunities
  • Follow up on incoming leads from the company website, tradeshows, referrals, etc.
  • Actively respond to requests for assistance on products or company information
  • Assist Management with scheduling follow up sales appointments or meetings
  • Contribute to improving sales and product information and statements which will increase the effectiveness of the overall quality of the sales efforts
  • Use our CRM to enter, track, and maintain all business opportunities.
  • Communicate Results: participate in a weekly review and communicate sales data and market intelligence as needed. 
  • Use web-based tools such as LinkedIn to create content and communications to work toward goals; manage related website content
  • Opportunity to travel to trade or industry events. Travel will be less than 10% of time


Required or Desirable Skills

  • Passion for a career in business development, sales, or marketing of technology
  • Excellent communication skills: listening, great writing, and interpreting technical content
  • High aptitude for the use of the web—based tools for sales and marketing purposes
  • Knowledge of technology, software, data management, web-based services (SAAS)
  • Demonstrates leadership by doing what’s right; a team player that practices integrity
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to take on new tasks in a fast-paced setting
  • College degree or 3 years work experience in sales or technology is preferred
